We Believe

Dignity HMC helps people with HIV live full lives

Who We Are

Building a better Texas where People with HIV are Safe, Healthy, and Whole.

When we had the opportunity to rename our organization in 2023 we wanted to encompass the idea of living a life unencumbered by HIV. We continue to strive to answer the question; What is Dignity?

Dignity HMC (Formerly BCAR) began life in 1984 as the Big Country AIDS Support Group as a way to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic of the late 70s and 80s.

In the 40 years since its inception, Dignity HMC has grown into an organization that provides medication, dental & medical services, housing, support, and a community to those living with HIV.

Our mission is to create an Abilene and area community that is free from the stigma of living with HIV/AIDS.

What is Dignity?

We provide free and low-cost medication to our clients with HIV and related issues. It is the core of our holistic approach to improving the lives of people with HIV.

02.

-Care Management

Dignity HMS believes in treating the whole person. That is why our team provides individualized care plans for services both within our facility and in the community.

03.

-Housing

Our team has a host of free and low-cost housing options for our clients. We work with our national, state, and community partners to ensure our clients have a safe place to stay.

04.

-Physical Health

Our dedicated health professionals take the time to make sure that not only are your medications correct but that we are helping you maintain your best physical health.

05.

-Dental Care

Dental care is healthcare. That is why we have created both an internal clinic and community partnerships to ensure quality access to free and low-cost dental procedures.

06.

-Community

Living with HIV is more than just physical well-being. That is why we have developed a vibrant community through events, groups,  and partnerships within the community.
